Photography Featured in the News

Lately a number of my photographs have made the rounds, garnering the attention of local news channels and online communities of weather watchers, as well as outdoor and photography enthusiasts.

The most recent of which landed me on the news:

That’s right, that’s Michael Emen in the local Arizona news!

This was a sunrise photo from a hike in Adero Canyon, located in Fountain Hills, Arizona. I shared the photo in a post to the Arizona Weather Authority Facebook community. The group is run by Arizona’s Family 3TV and CBS 5, and in turn, was then shown on the 3TV morning show. That’s a good start for the day, I’d say.

While sunrises are always part of the show out here, something which has been becoming more common in the past few years is an abundance of large, dangerous wildfires. These often create an immediate threat to the region, and in 2020, there were devastating and widespread nearby fires.

In other instances, there’s no imminent danger, but what you do have is plenty of haze and worsening air conditions. One photograph I took of the hazy sky created by the Mescal and Telegraph fires was also picked up by AZ Family 3TV, this time appearing in a gallery in an online news story.

There I am in the news again!

Seeing the photos I take get a bit of attention around the web and even on television is a wonderful feather in my cap while I’m enjoying the hobbies I already love to engage with across the local area. I’ll see you out on those trails for another early hike.
